Helmets Off

Apr 11, 2018

Josh Rosen is claiming he is the best player in the NFL draft.  Not only that, he's saying that he'll win more championships than Tom Brady.

That's a lot of boasting.

This is an interesting draft because of how many great quarterbacks are coming into the league.

Quarterback is the marquis position.  If you can find a good one, they're worth their weight in gold.  It's not the only position on the field, but you really need to get that right.

Some teams struggle to find good quarterbacks.  The Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are two who struggle at that position.  The Bears have great linebackers, but not great quarterbacks.  Maybe the city of Chicago just is too difficult.

This draft really is giving teams a choice in quarterbacks.  Carson Wentz showed you can pull great quarterbacks from smaller schools.  Josh Allen may be the next Carson Wentz

Baker Mayfield is the Heisman Trophy winner, but is the fourth best quarterback.  He may not survive in the NFL.

Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen are kind of the working class vs. upper class conflict.

Ryan Leaf was really good in college.  Incredible quarterback.  He had it all.  People thought he was a lot better than Peyton Manning.

But Manning changed everything at the Indianapolis Colts.  Ryan Leaf didn't have anywhere near the success of Manning.

Rick Mirer and Drew Bledsoe is another combo like this.  People thought Mirer was way better than Bledsoe in college.  Mirer never went anywhere, and Bledsoe went to the Superbowl.

Scott Mitchell takes his helmet off to show you the inside scoop of all kinds of sports from football to even golf. Scott Mitchell is a former NFL quarterback who was a star quarterback at the University of Utah before going on to have a professional career playing with the Miami Dolphins, the Orlando Thunder, the Detroit Lions, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Cincinnati Bengals. Scott also hosts the podcast Rivals with former NFL player Jason Buck.
